A Few Past Events

“We are just students who see an injustice in the world and our potential to help even just one child for one day."

Our Mission

STAR, Students Together Assisting Refugees, is a student organization dedicated to helping refugees. We work to make sure that refugees have happy, successful lives in their newly adopted communities.

STAR focuses on practical ways students can effectively help refugees. We raise awareness among students and mobilize them to positive action.

NSLI-Y is part of a U.S. government initiative that prepares American citizens to be leaders in a global world. It is important that Americans have the necessary linguistic skills and cultural knowledge to effectively communicate internationally. The NSLI-Y study abroad program aims to provide opportunities to American youth that will spark a lifetime interest in foreign languages and cultures.

"STAR can connect with students and set an example of how to be a leader and be a role model for them...Refugees need help for many years after they come. It's good if we have friends or people we trust to ask questions ...or to advise us."
